SSI Football: Summer Series Player Profile! Ty Wagner

Updated: May 25, 2023

Welcome to my SSI summer series player profiles. I was busy attending prospect tour camps this winter and discovered some really talented football players that are flying under the radar in some circles and I am proud to introduce my first player who made a real impression on me. Enjoy my first release on 2024 RB/LB/ATH Ty Wagner from Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin H.S.

2024 PROSPECT TY WAGNER

I discovered Ty Wagner at the Prep Red-Zone Iowa/Nebraska Prospect Tour camp back on April 16th in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Wagner is listed at a solid 6-0 (220). Wagner has been laser timed at (4.56) in the 40-yd dash and popped off a (4.35) Pro Shuttle time. Wagner runs behind his pads delivering punishment to oncoming tacklers and has the combination of power, speed and balance to race to the end-zone. Wagner led his WIAA SWC conference in rushing yards with (1,286), touchdowns (17) averaging a healthy (6.5) yards per carry. Defensively, Wagner registered (48) tackles, (7) sacks and (4) forced fumbles last fall.

Accomplishments: 2023 Polynesian Bowl National Combine & Showcase RB (M.V.P.) also a top performer at the Iowa/Nebraska Prep RedZone Prospect Tour where he received all camp honors. Multi-Sport Athlete competed in Wrestling and Baseball excelling at both sports and earned conference honors. Earned 1st Team All-Conference, All Region, All Tribune recognition last fall. Impact player throughout his high school career and ready to make an impact at the next level.

2024 PROSPECT TY WAGNER

PLAYER ANALYSIS: "When I watch Wagner's film I see a talented game changer that impacts the game in many different ways. Wagner's strength and athleticism allows him to showcase different attributes of his game and performs at a high level on both sides of the football. Easily one of the top backs in the Midwest foot print.

Wagner shows great power/speed and balance from his RB position and can get the 3rd & 2 by moving a pile with a powerful leg drive and then on the next play, can make a defender miss and win a footrace to the end-zone. Wagner demonstrates a great understanding of his ability in run blocking and pass protection as seen on film and has leadership qualities in the huddle that coaches are looking for. Wagner reminds me of a Big Ten prototype RB/FB.

Wagner has very good instincts on the defensive side of the football where leverage and pursuit are staples of his defensive approach and understands pursuit angles very well. Wagner has a knack to be around the football forcing fumbles as indicated by the game films. At the end of the day, Wagner is a kid that will be an asset to a collegiate roster at the Division-1 level. Wagner is simply a winner with a great attitude, work ethic and responds well to coaching and enjoys being coached up.
