SSI Football: Gameday Bishop Heelan (2-0) @ SC East (1-1) 87th Meeting Takes Place Tonight!

One of the better rivalry games across the state of Iowa takes place at 7:00 PM tonight at Olsen Stadium. Both teams have impact players on both sides of the football and it is sure to be an entertaining game tonight with game time temperatures around 80* the Crusaders lead the all time series 52-32-2.

The Crusaders of head coach Jon LaFleur head into tonight's contest with momentum having won their first two games by a combined score of 72-30. The stingy Crusader defense has only allowed (29) rushing yards on the season and have outscored the first two opponents (49-3) in the first half.

Junior RB Kasen Thomas is off to a great start having racked up (382) yards and (7) scores. Senior QB Karson Fitch has been very efficient completing (75%) of his passes for (130) yards. Junior RB Avery Favors has tacked on (118) yards out of the backfield as well. Sophomore Grant Whitcomb has (4) receptions for (47) yards so far this season.


The Crusader defense is led by senior Luke Fisher with (8.0) tackles. Other early season contributors on defense include Thomas with (4.0) tackles and (2.5) TFL. Senior Will Pattee has (5.0) tackles and senior DT Hayden Overgaard (5.0) tackles and (2.0) TFL.



The Black Raiders of head coach Mike Winklepleck are looking to bounce back after suffering a loss 21-10 last week to Sergeant Bluff. Junior QB Cal Jepsen has performed very well completing (69%) of his passes thru two games for (474) yards and (3) touchdowns. Senior RB Myles Wegher has been effective rushing for (195) yards and (2) scores. There are three nice weapons in the passing game including senior John Yates (9) receptions for (141) yards; junior Louden Grimsley (7) catches for (129) yards and junior Austin Sheppard has caught (6) passes for (87) yards and (2) scores.


The Black Raider defense is led by senior cornerback Dane Milton with (8.5) tackles and sophomore FS Kason Clayborne has (8.0) stops to round out the top tacklers from the secondary. Junior DT Colin Pittenger has been solid up front with (7.5) tackles on the young season.
